Guillaume Hoedt - Artiste
Originally from Belgium, Guillaume Hoedt studied engraving with Xavier Michel and Thomas Amerlynck at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. This choice gave rise to a privileged commitment in this practice, which allowed him to work in particular within the Cabinet des Estampes of the Royal Library of Belgium as a printer and guide. In addition to exhibitions, he is currently trying to transmit the need for creation through workshops within the Chamber of Art and Culture.

Following questions about the contemporary economic and geopolitical world, Guillaume Hoedt has been working on the geographical territory and architecture using Google Earth’s satellite images since 2013. By drawing attention to the urbanization of land, to the ghettos, to the gentrification and concreting of natural spaces, he explores at the same time all the plasticity that these territories can offer.
This interest came from the desire to understand the issues of the contemporary world that marks the ground and the horizon. Perhaps it is thanks to the mix of typical chaotic construction sites in the Belgian capital. Anyway, this question of «urban plasticity» he explores it in the thickness of the support but also on the ground.
Finally, the broad political question that underpins this approach is: what right do we have to delineate and take possession of the land outside our needs?
